In “Mood Swings” EP, Miguel Migs and Shades Of Gray have come together to deliver a fine Deep House affair drenched in rich textures, subtle undertones and moody melodies. Aspects of both classic and modern deep house intertwine expertly on these four tracks, creating edge and dynamism that is dance-floor ready.
The release starts off strong with “Create a Mood,” a truly deep groover of unparalleled freshness. With richly textured vocals, zippy synth stabs, lush layers, and tightly woven percussion, this track creates a mood of total allure and classic deep house appeal. “Down Underground” brings the late-night party vibes with a thick, sinister bass-line and a hypnotic vocal taking you deeper underground and telling you to dance ’til dawn.
“Let Me” is a feel-good moody jam with a thick, chunky bass-line, sparkling synths, hearty handclaps and an undeniable female voice that teases: “let me”. The “Salty Dub” channels more bounce with extra layers of throw back synth chords and a double-boost of boogie.

Tiger & Woods have been an SF favorite for a minute now, bringing out heads from all edges of the San Francisco house scene to parties put on by fellow tech-house purveyors As You Like It. Support comes from locals M3, Lights Down Low’s Sleazemore, and Shiny Objects.
Lastly, if you happen to be in Miami for WMC/Ultra, you’ll be pleased to know that Smoke N’ Mirrors has teamed up with The Electric Pickle and Red Bull Music Academy to put together a heavily stacked line up for Inside/Out, including exclusive sets from DJ Harvey, Osunlade, along with a slew of other performances from SNM artists, such as Maxxi Soundsystem, Edit Murphy, Death on the Balcony, Shiny Objects, along with friends, Jacques Renault, PBS Streetgang, PillowTalk, and more. The Revenge has created a devilish duo of “Lose My Head” dub remixes to contrast against the funky original from the Brooklyn synth-pop quartet Body Language. Relentless builds, tight drum kicks, and a hypnotic 303 bass-line create a perfect Detroit house beast named Dub 1. His equally naughty brother Dub 2, will transfix you with throbbing chords and tight percussion, building up to an epic swell of dance-floor mania; beware of the insanity-causing drop!
“Were it to be examined by scientists, they’d probably conclude that it’s equal part velvet and lasers. We are not scientists, but we can tell you this: it hails from the Brooklyn quartet’s September 18 EP, Grammar, and if you can keep a grip on your noggin whilst listening, you’re doing it wrong.” -SPIN
“Brooklyn dance-pop act Body Language make music practically designed for remixes -PITCHFORK
“Sunny and buzzing!” –FADER
“What else would you expect from a group that’s been praised by everyone and their nanas?” -MTVIGGY
“Body Language are in the same ballpark, quality-wise, as, respectively, early Madonna, the disco label Prelude’s 1982 output, and CSS doing an impression of Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. That is some ballpark. It is possibly the greatest ballpark there is.” -THEGUARDIAN UK
“Body Language may traverse an impressive range of styles, but the group has only one clear motive: to move bodies on the dance floor.” –NPR
“Listen to ‘Lose my Head’ and see for yourself if the suede-lined synths and cosmic vocals aren’t seductive enough to have you pressing ‘play’ more than once.” –EARMILK
“Whatever you want to call it, this is undeniably sexy…The incredibly detailed production shows the band at their tightest and most polished.” –AFROPUNK

Having been one of the original bass music practitioners, it makes a lot of sense for BassnectarAKA Lorin Ashton to team up with dance music legends Underworld on their classic track “REZ”. Today, OM Records imprint Child’s Play released Bassnectar’s remix of the cut, first put out by the seminal EDM group 20 years ago. “REZ” has had a special place in Ashton’s heart for well over a decade as a memorable part of his early exposure to dance music. “By the time I first heard ʻREZʼ…it was already a classic. It was the third ‘rave’ I had ever been to," says Ashton, "That was the only song I remembered from the entire night. And for years to come, whenever I hear any version or remix or even a slight fragment of that shimmering resonant arpeggiator I get flashbacks.” The Bassnectar remix adds mounds of thunderous bass to the track while still retaining its delicate and distinctive arpeggiated melody. The single will be released on 180-gram vinyl with digital download, full color jacket sleeve and liner notes from Bassnectar.

Deep house duo Death on the Balcony continue their global ascent with a pit stop at Monarch’s Smoke N’ Mirrors monthly! Fresh off the BPM circuit, the UK boys intend to keep the party alive with a night of soulful sounds and booty-shakin’ bass in San Francisco. Armed with a notable spectrum of house and disco tunes, Death on the Balcony’s groovin’ selections are sure to set the dance floor aflame. Rounding out the evening are Smoke N’ Mirrors very own Shiny Objects and fellow deep house purveyors Solar and Galen of Sunset Music.
Death on the Balcony is recognized as one of the UK’s hottest up-and-coming house acts for good reason. Since joining forces in 2008, Mark Caramelli and Paul Hargreaves have released well-received material on Pets Recordings, Culprit LA, Illusion Recordings, and more — evolving their acclaimed eclectic brand of house, disco, and techno influences all the while. Smoke N’ Mirrors just released the duo’s latest EP, Colours & Shades, which came out on February 5th.
These guys have been getting support from the likes of: Eats Everything, DJ T, Blond:ish, Adana Twins, Catz N Dogz, Soul Clap, Luciano, Wolf + Lamb, and more. The full US Tour in February 2013 bookings are by Liaison Artists (Maya Jane Coles, Maceoplex, Tale of Us, Wolf + Lamb).
