I guess there's no law about this yet....

So we’ve all gone out and purchased our bluetooth’s and earpieces after the July 1 law went into effect. I guess the laws are a bit more lax where this guy lives. Check him out, he’s laying down on his motorcycle while texting. Now that takes talent!

Chef's Dish of the Day ft. Norma Jean Bell, Gat Decor, Adamski, & AC DC

Greetings all and welcome back to The Chef’s Specials. After a run of 3 relatively quiet weekends on the trot I’m well lookin forward to some much needed carnage this weekend. Kicking off tonight with a 2 live gigs firstly from Aberdeen’s AC/DC tribute band AB/CD for some air guitar and head bangin, closely followed by a quick dash down to Cabaret Voltaire for the welcome return to Sick Note of the one and only Har Mar Superstar! Tomorrow evening i’m off to Glasgow to catch one of Ottawa’s finest purveyors of fine house grooves, Jason Pelletier, as he drops by to spin at Fiasco alongside resident Ed FM and Frazer Devine. Saturday night shall either be spent again in Glasgow at Sub Culture or back in Edinburgh for a Barbecue party and after all of that my guess is Sunday will be spent recovering in bed!

With Scottish super festival T In The Park on this weekend i dare say many of you will be feelin rougher than me by the end of the weekend, ha ha ha.

Anyway without further digression, excuses or general ado, on to Todays specials.

Firstly today one of my favourite deep Jazzy house tracks from 1996. This track is credited to the lady behind one of Detroit’s most mysterious and sought after record labels, Pandemonium. A one time member of Frank Zappa’s touring band she is a very experienced and well respected producer, vocalist and saxophonist who has worked with many of dance music’s most prolific luminaries from Carl Craig to Mad Mike Banks and Theo Parrish. This track was a collaboration with Kenny Dixon Junior aka Moodyman and for my money one of her finest works. Originally released on her own label then again on the giant F-Comm this track just seems to get better everytime i hear it.

To watch the video click HERE

Next up today a rather awesome and timeless piece of acid house from UK producer Adam Tinley. Released back in 1990 this track became a huge hit spending 4 weeks at number 1 here in the UK. It also helped to launch the career of Seal who supplied the vocals and went on to have a successful solo career. The video is just amazing and completely unforgettable as well and is probably one of my personal top 5 music videos of all time.

To watch the video click HERE

For a third course today we have a classic bootleg from 1996 which rather beautifully uses an accapella by Degrees Of Motion and a backing track which, in its original instrumental format, released in 1992, became one of the first and best known progressive house tracks. With its deep and driving bass line and a rather lush piano house progression this was one of my fave tunes even before i got properly into dance music. In 1996 Mixmag voted the original ‘92 version its 33rd most influential dance record of all time. Easy to see why.

To watch the video click HERE

Lastly today a classic rock anthem by Australia’s best loved band. Formed in Sydney in November 1973 by two brothers who were originally from Glasgow this band have gone through several line up changes over the years. They have, however, managed to become one of the worlds most successful and important rock bands and have written and performed some of the most anthemic tracks of the genre. They have an incredible stage presence and if you like a bit of rock in your musical diet then I’d say they should definitely be high up on your list of bands to see before you die. This particular track is a favourite of mine and features on their 1990 album The Razor’s Edge. The video was shot on the 17th of August 1990 at Brixton Academy in London.

Air guitars at the ready folks for this is the might of AC DC!!!

To watch the video click HERE

hope you enjoy todays tunes folks.

For those about to rock this weekend…I salute you!

CDP
