Hi Omies! Show’s sold out, but not to fear. We’re gonna be releasing an extra batch of tickets to the public very soon. Please stay tuned! Until then, if you got tickets…Congratulations!

Deep house duo Death on the Balcony continue their global ascent with a pit stop at Monarch’s Smoke N’ Mirrors monthly! Fresh off the BPM circuit, the UK boys intend to keep the party alive with a night of soulful sounds and booty-shakin’ bass in San Francisco. Armed with a notable spectrum of house and disco tunes, Death on the Balcony’s groovin’ selections are sure to set the dance floor aflame. Rounding out the evening are Smoke N’ Mirrors very own Shiny Objects and fellow deep house purveyors Solar and Galen of Sunset Music.
Death on the Balcony is recognized as one of the UK’s hottest up-and-coming house acts for good reason. Since joining forces in 2008, Mark Caramelli and Paul Hargreaves have released well-received material on Pets Recordings, Culprit LA, Illusion Recordings, and more — evolving their acclaimed eclectic brand of house, disco, and techno influences all the while. Smoke N’ Mirrors just released the duo’s latest EP, Colours & Shades, which came out on February 5th.
These guys have been getting support from the likes of: Eats Everything, DJ T, Blond:ish, Adana Twins, Catz N Dogz, Soul Clap, Luciano, Wolf + Lamb, and more. The full US Tour in February 2013 bookings are by Liaison Artists (Maya Jane Coles, Maceoplex, Tale of Us, Wolf + Lamb).

DJ/Producer J Boogie has been a key player at Om Records for many, many moons now. This moombah mastermind truly embodies the variety that SF nightlife has to offer; his DJ mixes blend a range of tracks that cover hip-hop, reggae, afro-beat, disco, electro, and house. As a producer, he has been releasing music since the 90s, both solo and as J Boogie’s Dubtronic Science—a project he embarked on with a live band, including a horn section, percussionist, and MCs.
This year, Boogie started monthly club-night at Monarch to sate SF party peoples’ need for a more multi-faceted musical experience: Night Moves unites veteran San Francisco house music vibes with emerging sounds of modern funk, nu-disco and moombahsoul. Imagine classic Chicago Trax blended with the current Disco Boogie revival. Podcasts, edits, and club nights will be curated in an effort to break the boundaries in San Francisco’s dance music scene.
Next week, on Saturday, November 3, Night Moves brings out Moon Boots to grace the decks and heat up the Void sound system. Be prepared for a cosmic journey of disco and R&B led by this mysterious producer, along with support from Deejay Theory, Papa Lu & The Whooligan, and, of course, J Boogie himself. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Resident Advisor [here]
Until then, check out J. Boogie’s latest mix for DJ Mag. Glittering with Latin percussion, funky synths, and a heaping dose of chunky basslines, this soulful mix will be just what you need to get in the mood for Night Moves.

Keeping the Smoke N’ Mirrors residency alive, Crazy P Soundsystem brings their live dance music show to Monarch on Friday September 14th along with PillowTalk, Navid Izadi, and Shiny Objects.
Crazy P have been leaving their mark on the landscape of British dance music for over 15 years. They’ve made their name with a unerring combination of lushly structured songs and live power, whilst never forgetting their roots on the dance floors of the late 90s’ house, disco, and soul clubs. Preceding the return to fashion of disco and boogie, Crazy P’s brand new album ‘When We On’ is already being hailed as one of their finest.
