Raashan Ahmad is my hero. No, seriously he represents everything hip hop should be to me. His emotions and love for the music is so evident, from mcing, to producing, b-boying to photography and video directing, he is truly a one stop shop. Since taking a mini break from Crown City Rockers, Rasshan has traveled the world and back including performing at the Gilles Peterson World Wide Awards Show, several tours through France and Austria as well as Australia. On the road he’s experienced the highs; being interviewed on a national news channel in France broadcasting to over 20 million people and the lows; landing in Tokyo just before the latest earthquake hit. If you’ve had the pleasure to know Raa, you will understand that his life is his music. Raashan’s new video for "Pain on Black’ is a tell all story. "Pain on Black is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written,’ states Raashan. Filmed in France, the video tells an up close and personal story of the daily struggles of living in our day. On production, Woodstocks’ (Crown City) work reminds me of why i fell in love with the genre in the first place, an infectious sample reminiscent of early Rza work.

Meet Brooklyn based group, Body Language. The group has been creating a lot of buzz amongst the recent chill-wave movement with their infectiously catchy R&B, electronica-tinged pop sound. Their first EP, ‘Social Studies’, has been on constant repeat here at the office. They’ve also been busy on the remix front providing remixes for Toro Y Moi and Om’s very own Dirty Vegas

On the morning of November 1st, 2010, Underworld recorded a live in-studio session for KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic in the legendary Village Studios in Santa Monica. This is the studio that Fleetwood Mac built for their ‘Tusk’ album, and is also where Sly and the Family Stone recorded ’There’s a Riot Going On’ and Frank Zappa recorded ’Joe’s Garage’ along with many more classics I can’t even list here. It was a legendary session!

Here is more in her own words.
After I heard about the tragedy in Japan, especially for those in Sendai (home of my stepmother’s family), fans and friends, it seemed only natural that I contribute something in someway to help. So with that being said, I am releasing ‘Wings of Faith’ and dedicating it to those affected by this horrible event. The song is a firm reminder for those who are struggling, that by having faith we can overcome all obstacles. All monies generated by the release of this song will go to Red Cross to help those who are in need. I thank you all for coming together at this time of crisis to aid our brothers and sisters. Your support for our friends, my family and those who are suffering is the first step. We must constantly make it our goal to extend help for those who are in need. God bless you all.
