It’s official, our very own Underworld has been selected as music directors along side Danny Boyle for the 2012 Olympic Games in London next summer.
Billboard Magazine writes..
Karl Hyde, one-half of British electronic duo Underworld, tells Billboard.com that serving as the music directors for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games will be “very slightly bigger than anything we’ve ever done.” And although Hyde and Rick Smith has already been putting together musical idea for the three-hour event on July 27, 2012, Hyde won’t reveal any grand musical ideas — but advises fans to “expect the unexpected.” Click Here to read more.

Following on from 2008’s critically acclaimed Stop, Space, Return, Crazy P return for their fifth studio album When We On, released 12th September through 2020 Vision Internationally and Om imprint, Smoke N’ Mirrors for North America.
Alongside the wealth of brilliant remixes they have served up recently, When We On shows how far Crazy P have come since 2008. Whether it’s the anthemic ‘Beatbox’, with its freeform acapella work, grinding Prince—style guitar and haunting strings, the reflective ‘Eruption’, driven on by a rave piano figure and lead singer Danielle Moore’s plaintive cry of “Let me be the one you run to” or, at the other end of the scale, the Detroit techno-esque ‘Sonar’, with its increasingly frenetic payoff, this is an album packed full of potential singles. They might be crazy, but they sure know where the tunes are located.
The first single, “Open For Service” is out now. Click Here to pick it up from iTunes.
The album drops in North America on September 27th.

Miguel Migs & Om Records are proud to announce the debut single from Miguel Migs forthcoming album, Everybody featuring Evelyn “Champagne” King with remixes from Soul Clap, Aki Bergen, Miguel Migs, Hardsoul and Nav Izadi. Check out the free download and buy links below.
San Francisco’s finest, Miguel Migs returns with a new single, entitled ‘Everybody’ featuring disco legend, Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King this summer. This release precedes Migs’ eagerly awaited album, ‘Outside the Skyline’, out later this year on the multi faceted Om Records.
Migs’ reputation is such that, when it came to recording his new album ‘Outside The Skyline’, he was able to pull together an impressive line-up of collaborators including original disco diva Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King, reggae legends Half-Pint and Freddie MacGregor, first lady of musicianship Meshell Ndegeocello, Berlin based singer Georg Levin and bossa nova phenomenon Bebel Gilberto all make an appearance on the album, alongside two vocalists who’ve been regular co-conspirators, Aya and Lisa Shaw.
The result is an album that’s trademark Migs. Informed by house but no slave to metronomic dancefloor rhythms and tempos, it takes influences from jazz, reggae, soul and more, with a heavy emphasis on high-quality songwriting and equally high production values.
The single package features a tantalizing display of remixes oozing funk, soul, disco and underground dance floor dubs from hotly tipped producers. While Migs gives us his Deep Salted Dub exploring the territories of deep-soul-disco and tech, Aki Bergen provides the quintessential and moody deep house Dub. The Hardsoul Vocal remix pushes the envelope into the realm of upbeat, peak time dance floor biz. With a plethora of remixes to choose from, Soul Clap completely switch the vibe and take us on a ride with their slow house interpretation that turns Italo Disco. Last but not least San Francisco’s Nav Izadi chops Evelyn’s vocals nicely over a nasty bass-line into a late night groove.
Social Studies (Deluxe Edition) Out October 4th, Release Free Toro & Moi Remix, Announce US. Dates, “Social Studies” Single Out July 12th
Om is very pleased to announce the singing of one of our favorite bands, Body Language’s for the release of Social Studies (Deluxe Edition) on Om / Lavish Habits (our new imprint). Social Studies starts off with a thick, top-heavy baseline absolutely hammering your speakers. Ah, but then the synths kick in like laser canons, leading us all down a neon-lit wind tunnel that’s lined with lean loops, galloping grooves, and head-circling hooks. Which begs one simple question: what is this, really?
“The title sums it up perfectly,” explains Grant Wheeler, who sings and swaps instruments alongside his longtime production partner/lead vocalist Matt Young, glockenspiel guru Angelica Bess, and drummer Ian Young. “Depending on the day, we’re producing indie music, DJing house, disco and Detroit techno, or writing pop songs on the piano. So we wrapped our record up like a tidy textbook of genres, or different cultures in a social studies class.”
And like any decent textbook, Body Language have a lot of history behind them, starting with the weekly parties Matt and Grant used to throw at a dive bar in Connecticut. The residency led to their love of dance music and a need for homemade club edits of everything from Billy Ocean to Don Henley. Not only that; the pair also started to tackle their own tracks, with Angelica eventually rounding out their ever-evolving sound and Ian stepping into his rhythm section role on the eve of a Bowery Ballroom show with Passion Pit. That billing wasn’t an isolated incident, either. As it turns out, Body Language lent their programming skills to several tracks on Passion Pit’s breakthrough album. They’ve also worked with such wildly different artists as Theophilus London, Machinedrum, and Fur.
But enough about the magic Body Language have brought to other records. This fall’s Social Studies EP—a tidy collection of four limited 10’’ singles—is a fitting followup to their 2009 debut Speaks, applying a refined pop palette to sample-splitting melodies (the title track), dollops of disco (“Falling Out”), and what can only be described as pure analog bliss (“You Can”).
“I suppose it sounds selfish,” says Grant, “but we wrote what we wanted to write. We get the same joy and satisfaction out of losing our shit behind a pair of turntables as we do singing four-part harmonies.”
Which explains why Green Velvet and Grizzly Bear get equal time on the group’s hi-fi, and with a proper LP already in its planning stages, let’s just say they might actually sound exactly like Billy Ocean by the time it’s done. Who knows. We can only hope, right?
