We dug through our video archives to find this rare footage filmed in 1996 featuring the Fat Beats crew (including owner, Joe Abajian along with Beat Junkie’s J Rocc, Babu, and Melo-D). The video was filmed by OM/Deep Concentration’s CK Smart and someone by the name of Cut Chemist.

This past weekend, Fat Beats LA and NYC closed their retail locations. This is our tribute to all the staff, DJs, buyers, collectors, and entire Fat Beats family! Thanks for supporting Om since the early days of Om / Deep Concentration!

Underworld’s ‘Barking’ is coming in less than five days! Child Play’s Amp Live just layed out a sick bassy remix of the new single “Always Loved A Film”.

Check out the great review from RCRDLBL.com:

“Is that name a taunt? I wonder how many blog write-ups this track and its numerous remix versions have had that haven’t made reference to that decade-defining Danny Boyle film (no, not The Beach). This latest refix, courtesy of AmpLive, has a pretty cinematic scope itself; its narrative arc beginning with anticipatory synths and the sort of slippery vocal gabbling Karl Hyde made his name with, before the electro-throbbing thing peters out into tender piano chimes. Are we supposed to take these as denoting a victory of some kind? I dunno, suh, for now this is just the trailer for a full, new Underworld album called Barking, out September 14 through Om”.

Pre-order Underworld “Barking” at iTunes.

Check out a remix PPP’s Wajeed just did of NYC-based artist Dede. The track titled, ‘Phantom’ is a dope nouvelle-pop track originally produced by Home & Garden’s Tim K. Wajeed takes the original track and lays out some eerie tones and a cinematic drum beat turning the track into something reminiscent of an old school cinematic-french black and white film. Rumor has it she’s joining a roster of hip hop / soul heavy weights.

Last night Om and KCRW hosted an event at the Americano’s patio featuring live performances from good friend, Shauna Regan and San Francisco troubadour, Sean Hayes. Who is Sean Hayes you ask? Sean Hayes is the voice behind a song many of you are familiar with called “Dream Machine” by Mark Farina.

With backdrops of the Bay Bridge and over 300 attendees, the event was a hit. Sean played tracks from his recent album, ‘Run with Wolves’ and even gave fans a cover of Talking Heads ‘Naive Melody’.

Special guest, KCRW’s Raul Campos was at the event to DJ and host!
