J-Boogie Sugarhill Remix

Man, time flies by as it’s Thursday again and time to leak another bootleg remix. This time our good friend Mikey Tello remixed J-Boogie’s Dubtronic Science disco rap track ‘Inferno’ featuring Lunar Heights, putting a nice 1978 twist on it. From Chic to Sugarhill Gang, this track is all about Good Times. Stream it and download it below.

In other news, UK soul singer Alice Russell has leant out parts to some of her songs off of her latest project ‘Pot of Gold’ for a remix contest. Our man J-Boogie just completed his submission and uploaded it here, along with several other submissions including one from Mr. Scruff. Unfortunately, you have to create a user name and password to log in and vote (click on which remix to find the right page), but if you have the free time it’s definitely worth it, especially to hear the diversity of each producers interpretation.

My mellow, my man King Most has been holding down the intergalactic dj scene like white on rice. A northern cali native, King Most aka Patrick has been steady in the lab working on his solo debut featuring a whole list of amazing artists, none of which i can reveal at this point, but trust it will be fire. Don’t sleep on his remix work either, he’s recently dropped remix gems on artists such as the Illa J, Masta Ace, De La Soul, Common as well as blessing us with this latin mash up of J-Boogie’s Dubtronic Science feat. Raashan Ahmad ‘Alive.’ The remix is heat and if you click the banner you’ll get a nice little zip containing the vocal and instrumental. Peep it, play it, rock it and give us some feedback. Sincerely,

Your friends at Om Records.

Ulli Hackl is a fan of Raashan Ahmad

Sometimes fan appreciation is underrated, but it’s the things like this letter we received from Germany that keeps the flow moving in the office. Ulli Hackl is a fan of Raashan Ahmad and we are a fan of Ulli Hackl. Peep the letter below.

Ulli Hackl

The letter came with a self addressed label and one US dollar for postage. Ulli is in luck, cause Raashan stopped by the office yesterday and signed 5 cd’s which we will be sending shortly. In honor of Ulli we are giving out a special download from Raashan Ahmad’s solo record, The Push. Stream and download ‘Give Thanks’ below and check the video after the jump.

Mike Monday Unofficial Remix

We’re past hump day and gearing up for the weekend. Nothing better than walking in the office and having a nice remix from our favorite UK producer Mike Monday waiting for me to play loudly only to piss off the delicate workers in the office next to us. Mike Monday choose Animal Collective’s ‘My Girls’ and turned in the atmospheric original into a late night club banger. Animal Collective is fresh off the their release Merriweather Post Pavilion which comes highly recommended! Look below to stream and grab this remix and if you’re feeling it, make sure to peep Mike Monday’s solo record ‘Songs Without Words Pt. 1’.

J-Boogie live and direct in New Orleans

Between SXSW and WMC, J-Boogie, The Whooligan, Amanda and myself took a pit stop in The Big Easy. We rented a car in Austin and took off east on the 10. As we approached Louisiana, the geography turned in a massive swampland with mangroves, sunken forests and amazing glimpses of wild life. We arrived in New Orleans that night with our mouth watering for crawfish, red beans and rice, gumbo, soft shell crab po’ boys, oysters, bread pudding and of course beignets from Cafe Du Monde. Drunk off food, we spent the next couple days exploring the architecture of the French Quarter, huge plantation homes in the Garden District and the spooky above ground graveyards. Our main mission was eating, but of course we had to fit a dj gig in between. On Tuesday night, J-boogie had the honor to rock with Soul Sister, the New Orleans tastemaker and were lucky enough to get a high quality recording. Click the banner to visit the Brooklyn Radio Beat Sauce website where you can download or stream the mix to get a taste of what J-Boogie is all about.

Zion I - Geek to the Beat New Video

Direct from our homies Zion I, The Geek the Beat video is next level. Even noticed by Kanye West himself, the Alice and Wonderland themed video is shot through the rabbit hole in a house with the address of 808. The song itself show’s Amp Live’s diversity of production with drum & bass esq production. Mc Zion aka Baba Zumbi crafts his lyrics to perfection whiles he travels through the different environments of the next dimensional world. Click the banner to check out the video.

Soul Vibrations Dub Remixes

Om Records is proud to present a new style of remix album from J-Boogie’s Dubtronic Science, ‘Soul Vibrations,’ The Dub Remixes. Following in the footsteps of Dub Masterpieces like Massive Attack’s “No Protection” or Roots Manuva’s “Dub Come Save Me” J-Boogie takes his album into outer space and packs it into the bong. After releasing Soul Vibrations in September 2008 with critical acclaim, J-Boogie continued the vibe with music videos, Youtube features, remixes from Vadim, Crazy P and King Most, a tour with Herbaliser and an appearance on the latest Mushroom Jazz. Staying fresh on the festival circuit, touring with the likes of Bassnectar, Vadim, Spearhead, Widespread Panic, and opening up for legends such as Breakestra, RJD2, PPP, Nickodemus, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, J-Boogie has also made several international DJ trips to cities in Japan, Columbia, Canada and India. Producing remixes for Mark Farina, Alice Russell, DJ Sabo, DJ Vadim, Karsh Kale, Miguel Migs and Zeph & Azeem, J-Boogie has gained multitudes of respect within the hip-hop, soul, electronic, dance and jam band community. ‘Soul Vibrations’ is a perfect blend of why we’ve come to love him: bangin beats, future soul, dance floor party tracks and organic instrumental compositions.

‘Soul Vibrations The Dub Remixes’ is the next step in tripped out remixes from the funky studio sound of Space Echo’s and Analog Delays, featuring the full horn and percussion section plus an all-star line-up of friends having their vocals sent through the dub box including Lyrics Born, Zumbi (of Zion I), Crown City Rockers, Ohmega Watts, Rich Medina, Capitol A, Tony Moses, The Mamaz, Deuce Eclipse, Rithma, Tim’m West, Jennifer Johns, The Rebirth, Lunar Heights, and more. “The Dub Remixes” are destined to become a stoner’s classic soundtrack for the Summer.
