Rumors have it Dirty Vegas are making a come back. It has been a minute since we heard new material from the Grammy award winning trio, but a fly on the wall here at Om says something is brewing.
Most of you remember the band from their highly acclaimed (and aforementioned Grammy award winning) track, ‘Days Go By’. The tune gets a 2010 twist from up and coming dubstep producer, Mimosa. For fans of Skream, Rusko and Bassnectar, this track is sure to make your bass boom and tweeters bleed.
Colette Marino, better known as DJ Colette, is and has been one of the hottest acts to come out of the Chicago House music scene. She is a resident DJ at the SmartBar in Chicago (along with close friend of Om Records, Kaskade) and rose to fame when she started to sing over her DJ mixes.
She has been called Om Records’ First Lady of House. Her album “Hypnotized” was the most downloaded house music album on iTunes in June 2005. Along with producing hit singles, she has performed at gigs and music festivals all over the world.
In this interview for 5 Mag’s anniversary project, she discusses her classical upbringing, her first time singing over a DJ, how she started DJing herself, and her close ties to Om Records.
In June of this year, the dance music world was hit with the devastating news that the disco/pop production duo Aeroplane had disbanded. With international success on the remix circuit, crafting sparkling disco gems for Friendly Fires, Robbie Williams, The Doves and Cut Copy to name a few, the news came as a shock.
While their album is still set for release on Wall of Sound, the future of the group is VERY questionable. Luckily, Stephen (one half) is continuing his pursuit of blissful disco music. Under the name ‘The Magician’ he delivers part 1 of his mixtape series ‘Magic Tapes’ and man, is it SEXY! Peep the new mixtape and get up on this before the sensual yacht leaves the station and you’re left high and dry, landlocked from lasciviousness.
Samantha James release her new single “Subconscious” on August 10th. The title track off her sophomore album on Om Records is an upbeat jam summoning you to the dancefloor. The track features remixes from longtime collaborator Eric Kupper (Hed Kandi), Nacho Marco and Them Jeans.

Founders Veronica Christina and Nico Johanna:Sex+Design is primarily a platform for artists, designers and writers to speak about the lives we are all REALLY leading, with the mass media sugar-coating. We are breaking ground in a whole new genre and strive to represent beauty and sophistication in all that we publish.
There’s a new mix out from renowned disco house DJ Marcos Cabral!
Cabral started his career as a DJ in New York at the young age of 15. He embraced the NYC techno scene and soon became one of its most prominent DJs. Many know him as half of the popular production duo Runaway (with Jacques Renault). Under the Runaway moniker, they’ve released a hybrid of techno, house, and disco under labels such as DFA, Rekids, Mule Musiq, Permanent Vacation, his own label On The Prowl, and many more.
From their earliest moments as a band, Karl Hyde and Rick Smith of electronic act Underworld have been about more than just the music. Underworld has always been a multimedia experience, from the custom-made video projections to unique stage dressings to detailed album artwork — much of which are conceived by Tomato, the U.K.-based art collective in which the duo are partners.
Hyde also documents all of his travel experiences with photography and poetry — so we asked him to capture the group’s recent weekend trip to Italy for a performance at the Italia Wave Festival Livorno, exclusively for SPIN.com. What follows is a compendium of his images, verses, and quotes from a post-festival interview.
