Oooooh, OM Creative’s getting ICECOLD in the OHLEVEN! We got the call from high atop the Rockies that Coors Light was looking for musical refreshment so we put on our thinking caps, and came up with this! We took three DJ’s, one being the man who’s been here since the beginning, Mr. J-Boogie and offered them up the entire Om Hip Hop catalog (past present and future, 16+ years worth) to take their cuts on remixing classics with the songs of today! The results came out DOPE, so we combined all three mixes in this slick online listening lounge. To hear all the mixes and reminisce with some classic Om with some you may have never heard move your mouse over and click HERE!

Jason Bentley premiered the new single from Underworld – “Always Loved a Film” – earlier this week on Morning Becomes Eclectic and now their blog has it for you as a stream! He describes the track as ‘joyful noise.’ We agree!!!
E the Red put me onto this podcast from the mighty Giant Step. New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop have a new 7" coming out for their track ‘The Raft’…it’s getting a lot of play on Garth Trinidad’s show on KCRW. Check out their Podcast stream below and keep your eye out for the 7" in stores soon!
Special thanks go out to the nice folks over at Livio for sending me one of their snazzy new WIFI radios to test out. Those of you that know me, know that I’m down with radio. There’s something awesome about tuning into NPR(KQED here in lovely SF) and getting the straight scoop on what’s going on. But when I go down to LA, I’m always so envious of the radio down there. I mean, KCRW? Come on! That’s the truth! So, what if you could listen to KCRW and KQED on your radio in Oakland? Oh, wait…there’s more! What if you could also rock your Pandora channels with no commercials? Oh holy hell, wait…that’s not all! What if you could also tune into BBC Radio 1 and hear what’s going on with the dude Gilles Peterson? Now we’re talking! Want to listen to Solid Steel to see what those Ninjas are up to! It’s on there too. Over 2,000 stations around the world. I was listening to stations broadcasting out of Egypt, Cuba, and Maui all with a simple click. I’m old school. I like vinyl. I like terrestrial radio and I’m down with Pandora too. Here it is, all in one, and it’s got the audio output on the back so I run it into my speaker system. Freshness! I highly recommend picking one of these up if you’re down with the ultimate radio experience and getting more happiness in your life.

Samantha James turned me on to this band! They’re a conscious hip-hop live group from Venice, peep the Om symbol on the shirt. Positive hip-hop is always welcome on my stereo, and the Luminaries remind me of the good times I had when I first discovered the native tongues. Check them out live, Samantha thanks for the tip! Check out their video below and click here to visit their site.

The new batch of Samantha James ‘Waves of Change’ remixes are here! Soulstice’s Andy Caldwell gets busy with an electro groove, Richard Grey takes the mix on a lap through his Pacha residency, Nikola Gala creates a potential track of the conference at WMC, and Valentin Huedo takes the track to the sunset at Cafe del Mar. Stay tuned for the new Samantha James album, “Subconscious” – coming on Om in June!

Australian funk heavy hitters The Bamboos are recording their 4th album for one of my favorite imprints Tru-Thoughts and they were kind enough to share this little video from behind the scenes in the studio. Looks like they’re having a good ol time! If this new song ‘Like Tears in Rain’ is any indication of what we’re in store for, a lot more people will be knowing about them real soon!
Hailing from Portland, OR, Rocket Empire is the next wave of Om’s midtempo chilled out roster. Think early Thievery Corporation mixed with Boozoo Bajou and you’re getting close to the vibe. Their track ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’ is the #1 most played track on SIRIUS ‘Chill’ (Channel 35).
