This just in, we’re celebrating the Grammys® with a special event set for Saturday, February 12 at supperclub los angeles. The night will commemorate electronic music with DJ sets from Om artists Groove Armada, nominated in the “Best Electronic/Dance Album” category for their album Black Light, and Dirty Vegas, 2003 Grammy winner for “Best Dance Recording,” plus Jason Bentley, KCRW Music Director and host of “Morning Becomes Eclectic.”
Not many bands on their sixth album could be described as bold, brave, fresh, and adventurous or representing a new creative peak, but GROOVE ARMADA’s Black Light is all of those things and more. Twelve years into a career as purveyors of top-tier dance music, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay have completely reinvented their sound with thrilling results which have garnered them a Grammy® nomination for “Best Electronic/Dance Album.” This marks GROOVE ARMADA’s third Grammy® nomination following “Superstylin’” for “Best Dance Recording” in 2003 and “Easy” also for “Best Dance Recording” in 2004.
Joining GROOVEARMADA is Grammy winner DIRTYVEGAS who in 2003 took home the award for “Best Dance Recording” for their hit “Days Go By.” The trio of Steve Smith, Paul Harris and Ben Harris are currently gearing up for the April 23 release of their new album Electric Love on Om Records. The album’s title track currently leads the charge as a free download available via www.dirtyvegas.com and exclusive remixes from the likes of Eli Escobar, Runaway (DFA Records), Paul Harris, Alex Tepper, DJ Fame and Cassette Club. The video for “Electric Love” featuring actress and musician Jena Malone is available now.
Reflecting on a lifetime of music, Jason Bentley is still listening carefully, with a youthful anticipation of that next brilliant sound. As Music Director of KCRW and host of their signature program “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” as well as a distinguished career as a music supervisor for film and advertising and an exhaustive DJ schedule in bohemian Los Angeles, Bentley is a tireless champion of new music and culture with an influence close to home and around the globe.
Doors for this 21+ event open at 9:00 pm. Limited advance tickets are available for purchase HERE.
