Photographer Ryan McGinley in the photo world. His works have been featured in the New York Times, V Magazine, The Advocate, SF Guardian and more. He was the man behind the lens in Levis’s ‘Go Forth’ campaign last year. The denim giant recently re-enlisted McGinley to produce their new campaign for hip retailer Opening Ceremony. Even though Levis’s campaign is for the new spring line, Ginley chose the autumn season as the back drop. The end result is a visually stunning campaign. I can’t wait for fall!

We’re tickled pink to announce a very special new addition to our blog family, long time friend and one of our favorite music scribes, Jen Boyles! Om fans will recognize her name for in depth interviews w/ Mark Farina and Derrick Carter, Kaskade, King Kooba, Rithma, Afro-Mystik and many more. She’s been covering electronic music for over a decade! We’re honored to have her writing for us, she’s already uncovered music from New Order produced indie rockers The Scanners and quite possibly the last magazine still standing worth reading Self Titled.

Boyles has been fighting in the trenches of electronic music since there were such things as JNCOs, and for that matter, vinyl. Getting her start at super-hip alt-weekly City Pages in Minneapolis as a nightclubs and dance music reviewer, she went on to work for a whopping eight years for the now all-digital URB Magazine, and has enjoyed stints with BPM, CNET, and Chicago’s New City. She enjoys thrift stores and finding deals on cool street wear far more than the average person should and is partial to UK comedies and a bit of cheese. Her favorite interview of all time was with Mike D of the Beastie Boys. You can email her if you want at Jenboyles(at) or find her on Facebook.

King Britt is putting his last dance record out on Nervous Records. He will be retiring the dance / house productions to pursue a more experimental sound. The former Digable Planets member took to his website to tell his fans of his retirement from dance production.

From King Britt
“Well, its been a minute since I released an album of original material. The Intricate Beauty will be coming this March/April on Nervous/FiveSix. I had a great time working on it and collaborating with the beautiful singers, Rucyl, Lady Almaa, Ryat and Astrid Suryanto, as well as remixing Kim English and Byron Stingly exclusives for the album.

This album will be my last ‘conventional’ dance album. I have been inching more into experimental electronica and techno, like The Nova Dream Sequence and Ramon Tejada w/ Rucyl Mills. "

“Now” features vocals from Astrid Suryanto. The track is an interesting direction for King. It sounds like a Telepopmusik track featuring a Tracey Thorn (Everything But The Girl) vocal. What do you think?

King Britt’s “Intricate Beauty” will be released on April 20, 2010.
