As funky as Jamiroquai with the smooth voice of Maxwell, and a slight tongue-in-cheek flair of Jamie Lidell. All these things combined, you get the Berlin-based smooth crooner, Georg Levin. (Om fans may recognize him featured on a Jazzanova track from Om Lounge 9).
The BBE / Sonar Kollectiv artist and long time Jazzanova collaborator, just released his sophmore album, “Everything Must Change”. The new album picks up where he left off years ago with his first solo efforts (“Can’t Hold Back”); funky, deep, jazzy soul. Tracks fan are sure to enjoy include “Everything Must Change”, “Falling Masonry”, and “Better Life” (featuring another one of my favorite vocalist, Sonar Kollectiv’s Clara Hill).
The standout track is a rather unexpected track called “Runaway”. The tracksounds like a cross between Kasper Bjorke’s “Young Again” with vocals reminiscent of Gorillaz’s/Blur’s Damon Albarn, a slight departure from the funky, deep, soul, Levin is known for.
For all you Samantha James fans out there, I’d recommend picking up this album immediately.
