West Magnetic

West Magnetic has no friends, and he doesn´t need them. After 8 years of hermitting around his basement studio being generally anti–social, the inventive producer/songwriter/engineer/musician finally has something to show for it. "Blue Royal", his first endeavor, is the culmination of years of profession–bouncing, be it working as a sound effects editor for Imax movies or, most recently, developing the soundtrack of such "guaranteed–to–be–a–hit" video games as Activision´s X–Men. The Toronto–based House artist started studying music at the ripe age of six, first with Conservatory piano and flute and later moving into percussion. Not so naive to believe that he could make a decent living simply from performing, West got practical by teaching himself the engineering and production side of things. At the age of sixteen he began the expensive task of assembling a studio in his bedroom and stumbled upon his true love, writing, and what started as a hobby quickly developed into a career. Combing samples from disco, funk, and jazz albums, West strives to keep his music sounding organic, playing everything from rhodes to bass to drums himself and enlisting poor, unwitting musicians to fill in the gaps. Want to know more? Give him a call. Trust me, he´s home.
