Living under the same roof and working in a shared basement studio in Bed Stuy, Matt Young, Angelica Bess and Grant Wheeler have been busy shaping a sound that swells with the blood, sweat and cheers that illuminates their live performances. After adding Amidst their travels, they have crafted a momentous live set which consequently raised the bar for their forthcoming record. There's been a lot left to be said since their 2009 release, the Speaks EP, and Social Studies dictates those very things which were left on the tip of the tongue of anyone who enjoyed their high-energy performances over the last year. Social Studies is an eight-track release offering a glimpse of this wakening quartet exploring the outer reaches of future disco, neo-soul and indie-electro. After earning a remix spot on Neon Indian's Psychic Chasms Possessed and a Pitchfork debut of their reworking of Toro y Moi's "Timed Pleasure", the unfamiliar listener might hastily spin Body Language into the web of gloi-fi phenoms who have emerged in the last year.
